How are sprayers perfectly adjusted and what new innovations are there in the field of airless? Which nozzle sizes are best suited for a specific material and a specific application or what is the difference between a diaphragm and a piston pump? These and many other essential questions about paint spraying were the topics at the WAGNER Influencer Training with a selection of spraying professionals from the UK.
The professionals were invited to Germany to the WAGNER Academy for an intensive theory and practical training to experience a variety of products in practice and to further refine their skills around the topic of spray application. After a few tips and tricks from our experts, they put their own hands to the task and tested the various machines extensively. Not only were different materials processed, but also a wide range of applications were simulated in the training centre:
In addition, the participants extensively dealt with commissioning and cleaning the sprayers and received tips on selecting the right nozzle. After the two-day workshop, all participants were fired up and keen to put their newly learned skills into practice on their next customer project. Through the training, the spraying professionals gave positive feedback.
In the following interview Craig Phillips, our long-standing partner in the UK, answers a few questions about Airless and XVLP spraying and explains why he relies on spray technology not only for large projects.
Spraying really is suitable for any size of contractor. Whether it is a one man band or an entire team, everybody - especially on larger projects - saves time and gets a better result. But no matter if you do one door on a house or ten doors it is so much quicker using spray paint technology.
It certainly gets the job done a lot quicker and it reduces your labour costs, which makes it more profitable for your business and because we can complete the jobs a lot faster, it’s less inconvenient for the customer.
WAGNER invented the new HEA tip technology. It allows you to spray with a reduced overspray of over 50%. Therefore, there’s less masking involved. So there is less prep to do and the clean-up is a lot quicker.
For me personally, it doesn’t matter, what size painting project I’m taking on. From large to small ones spray paint technology really makes it quicker and better.

Colin has been a Professional Painter and Decorator since leaving school at 16....working within his father's building company before he left school. After leaving school he continued with a local general building company within the decorating team. He setup his own business in his early twenties, with a rapid growth of staff and large contracts, he soon realised a brush and roller was not the way forward. He made the transformation from oil to water based products using Caparol products. Victoria founded Smith Nicholson in 2014 however her experience extends back to 2005 when she started her City and Guilds apprenticeship with a company established for over 250 years. Working for this company, she learned the trade in buildings such as The Royal Courts of Justice, The Foreign and Commonwealth Office buildings, Clarence House and even Buckingham Palace.
