Mixing clay plaster
You can buy clay plaster in stores as a dry mix or moist clay. You only need to mix both mixtures with water. For mixing clay plaster, temperatures of at least 5 °C should prevail in the room.
Usually, two layers of clay plaster are applied: the clay base plaster (also called 'loam base plaster') and the clay finishing plaster (also called 'loam finishing plaster'). The layer of clay base plaster is thicker (approximately between 35 and 40 mm).
The layer of clay plaster above it serves to round off the appearance and has a smaller thickness of approx. 4 mm. The grain size can be both fine and coarser. The application of clay plaster is the last step before a possible coat of clay paint.
