Three quick steps: Varnish decking boards

In spring with a cosy blanket or in summer with a cool drink, the terrace is a "happy place" for many. Weathered decking is really not an attractive feature in the garden, especially when the wood can be easily refreshed. In this article we show you how to quickly bring your terrace back to life by following a few simple steps. Here’s how it works:

What do you need for your patio repainting?

  • Patio cleaner (e.g. high-pressure washer) or brush and water bucket
  • Sandpaper for stubborn marks
  • Paint spraying system: e.g. W 690 FLEXiO with a handle extension
  • Masking material
  • Cardboard as a spray guard
  • Paints and stains in the colour of your choice

Step 1 of 4: Cover surrounding areas

Step 1: Cover surrounding areas

Cover any surrounding surfaces to protect them. Some dust sheets or masking tape with integrated plastic film is suitable for this purpose.

Step 2 of 4: Clean terrace

Step 2: Clean terrace

Your old wooden decking should be as clean as possible before repainting, so we recommend cleaning the deck thoroughly. Either with a pressure washer or some water and a suitable scrubbing brush. Particularly stubborn marks on the wood can be removed with a little sandpaper.

Step 3 of 4: Respray

Step 3: Respray

Let's get to the enjoyable part of the tutorial, the spray painting. We recommend the W 690 FLEXiO with handle extension, which allows you to reach the ground without bending. Spray from the back to the front so as not to have to walk over the already painted surface. Try to be as consistent as possible and keep a uniform distance from the surface. In the video, Aneta shows how it's done.

Step 4 of 4: Enjoying the end of the day

Step 4: Enjoying the end of the day

Aneta's terrace can be enjoyed again after the repainting. Simply a great before and after comparison, the wood shines in new splendour. Follow suit and give your decking a new coat of paint.
