Step 1: Thoroughly mask

Carefully mask all areas that do not need to be primed, It is best to use masking tape with integrated film to protect surrounding surfaces such as windows, doors and ceilings.

Step 2: Thin the paint and stir thoroughly

To optimally prepare wall paints for spraying, it is best to dilute them by about ten percent with water. Then stir the emulsion vigorously with a stirrer so that the water and paint combine.

Step 3 of 6: Putting the paint spraying system into operation

Step 3: Putting the paint spraying system into operation

For our project we used the WAGNER W 950 Flexio, a paint sprayer with direct suction from the paint bucket. For commissioning, the suction hose is hooked into the bucket and the correct setting for wall paint is selected on the control dial.

Step 4 of 6: Carry out a spray test

Step 4: Carry out a spray test

Before you start spraying, you should carry out a spray test on an old piece of cardboard or wallpaper to check the settings of your paint sprayer and adjust them if necessary.

Step 5 of 6: Spray wall paint

Step 5: Spray wall paint

Then you are ready to start spraying. Make sure that you spray at an even distance of approx. 20 – 30 cm and as parallel to the wall as possible. You will get a particularly good result if you spray in a cross coat pattern, i.e. first one layer in horizontal passes and then one layer in vertical passes.

After you have finished spraying, you should remove the masking material while the paint is still slightly wet. This way, sharp edges are perfectly preserved and you can be sure that you will not have to peel off with the masking tape.

Tip: Corners and edges

Tip: Corners and edges

With a paint sprayer, you can coat corners and edges particularly easily. Here, no annoying cutting in with a brush is necessary, which makes painting much faster and easier. With a lance like the one on the W 950 Flexio, you can get to hard-to-reach corners of the room or the ceiling easily without even using a ladder.

Before and after

What furniture and decor for the guest room?

When it comes to setting up the perfect guest area, there are a few tips to keep in mind that will save money and time.

Which furniture can be reused?

The old wardrobe, the bed or the desk? Think about what old furniture can be reused can also be used in the new guest room. Let your creativity run free. Upcycling makes old pieces of furniture shine in new splendour and with a bedspread you can skilfully hide many an unsightly bed. Repurposing old furnishings not only saves time, but also conserves resources and your wallet. For example, in our project we kept the old bed and repainted the built-in wardrobe in chic white.

The right colour for the guest room?

A guest room is first and foremost a bedroom. It is best to choose calm colours that promote a good night’s sleep. Gentle shades of green or blue have a calming effect and at the same time provide a little holiday feeling: especially with the right decoration.

For our project we opted for a calm aventurine green, which makes the room look sophisticated and cosy at the same time.

Tips and ideas for the right decoration

Whether living room, bedroom or guest room – only with the right accessories, can a room looks fully furnished. It is best to think about which pictures, lamps, cushions and other decorative elements match the colour scheme and style of the room before
renovating.

We opted for accents in green, gold and beige. At the moment, macrame and pampas grass, for example, are very trendy.

2/1 Double up the use of the new guest room

Especially if you don’t have that much space in your flat, it’s worth considering in advance exactly how small rooms can be used optimally. With a practical couch or sofa bed, for example, the study and guest room can be perfectly combined.

Guest room with sloping roof – the professional does it

Especially in houses from the 1980s and 1990s, dark wooden ceilings dominate the interior design. If you can no longer see the brown ceilings either, a new coat of paint is recommended. With a paint sprayer like the WAGNER W950 Flexio, this is no problem at all thanks to the long lance. However, as the preparation work such as sanding and cleaning the ceiling takes a lot of time, we hired a professional and had the ceiling repainted by a master painter with an airless sprayer.
