Industrially viable MDF powder coating

Seamless all-round coating

Powder coating of MDF boards? Not feasible for mass production! This was the unanimous view within the industry. However, WAGNER has now made the powder coating of standard MDF boards industrially viable - which brings many advantages.

Auf einen Blick

  • Seamless all-round coating with uniform, scratch-proof surfaces
  • Cost savings of around 25% compared to liquid coating, lamination or foil coating*
  • Around 20% material savings and reduction of CO2 emissions by 3.8 kg per square meter*

     * in high volume production, compared to traditional liquid coatings

Customer challenge

The company needed an economic and highly productive solution for the high-quality and seamless coating of its MDF furniture workpieces in complex shapes – which is also suitable for the application in mass production series.

Our solution

The customer invested in two WAGNER powder coating lines. WAGNER developed special aggregates with which even standard MDF boards can be uniformly electrostatically powder coated. This technology enables seamless, all-round coating with a uniform, scratch-proof surface that can be worked on immediately. This way, WAGNER has made the powder coating of MDF boards industrially viable.
