WAGNER TempSpray Temperature controlled airless spraying: heat instead of dilute

Temperature controlled airless spraying - what is it and what are the advantages of working with this type of paint application method? How does TempSpray technology from WAGNER work? In this guide, we show you how a heated hose leads to an improved surface finish!

What is temperature controlled airless spraying?

Temperature controlled airless spraying means that you ensure the ideal viscosity for spraying by heating the material to the optimum temperature all year round. A heated hose is used to heat the material to the required temperature. By optimising temperature the viscosity is also reduce and therefore reducing the required spraying pressure. This reduces the paint overspray and increases the longevity of your sprayer while improving the surface finish. How does the heated hose from WAGNER work?

WAGNER TempSpray How does the work?

The heated hose is connected to the paint sprayer and replaces the regular hose between the pump and paint spray gun. The technology works by heating the material in the hose, using a electric heating element that heats the material to the desired temperature along the entire length of the hose. You can set the temperature between 20 °C and 60 °C. The lower viscosity improves the material application - thanks to a softer spray jet and optimised atomisation.

Temperature controlled spraying advantages

With a heated hose, the coating material is kept at a constant temperature - regardless of how cold or warm it is outside or in the work area. This leads to low viscosity, even with highly viscous materials.

The heated coating material is less viscous so it can be applied at a lower pressure during temperature controlled spraying. Differences in the paint can be seen, especially if a heated hose system was used for applying the paint. By heating the material you achieve a:

  • Perfect spray pattern without tailing
  • Optimum surface quality thanks to softer spray jet and optimised atomisation
  • Considerably better edge coverage
  • Increased application efficiency
  • Reduced overspray with virtually no spray mist
  • Decreased masking requirement and subsequent cleaning
  • Shorter flash-off and drying time.

What is application efficiency?

The application efficiency describes the ratio of the amount of material dispensed from your paint spray gun and the amount of material on the surface at the end. A high application efficiency means minimum paint loss due to overspray or spray mist.

Heating the paint not only has a direct effect on the paint application, but also on your WAGNER paint sprayer: Due to the low pressure and the easier processing of the material, you not only protect the coating material, but also the machine itself. Therefore, there is less wear and tear and lower repair and maintenance costs as serviceable parts are replaced less often.

Finally, you can heat instead of diluting: Without a heated hose, you would dilute with a solvent or water to reduce the viscosity of the material. By heating it instead, you save a step and therefore time and effort - as well as money, because additional solvents are no longer needed.

WAGNER TempSpray heated hoses, why are they special?

WAGNER's TempSpray heated hose system can be connected to many of our paint sprayers . Depending on the model, it is small, compact and handy or particularly practical with a long hose and reel.

You can adjust the desired temperature of the material from 20 to 60 degrees Celsius. After switching on, the product automatically starts with an initial temperature of 40 degrees Celsius, but you can fully adjust the temperature setting of the product at any time.

The hose reel integrated in the larger heated hose systems is practical for the construction site – at the same time you have a large working radius, a compact and safe way to store the hose reducing any risk of  damaging the hose.

What materials can be applied?

Temperature-controlled spraying has many advantages - but for which materials is the TempSpray suitable? You can apply the following materials depending on the paint sprayer being used:

If you are unsure whether a particular paint or coating is suitable for your Wagner TempSpray model or is generally sprayable, simply look at the product page, in the spray guide or check the manufacturer's instructions for the material used.

WAGNER TempSpray heated hose what applications is the suitable for?

Temperature-controlled spraying with the WAGNER TempSpray is designed for professional use. All TempSpray heated hoses are suitable for paint, varnish and many other coating materials. The TempSpray H 326 has a hose length of 30 m and therefore offers the largest working radius - and the model is also suitable for highly viscous materials such as adhesives and sealants.

Above all, the WAGNER TempSpray accessory enables the application of paint with a flawless finish even at low outside temperatures. This way, you can also apply exterior paint and interior emulsion paints easily, quickly and flawlessly in large construction sites, even if the coating material has cooled down during storage. Especially when it comes to large and draughty surfaces (such as in multi-storey car parks, bridges and subways, etc.), the material already cools down quickly during the application. With a TempSpray this is no longer a problem, the hose heats the material to the desired temperature and you can work all year round - without any restrictions on the quality of the surface you create. With TempSpray you take control and defeat factors such as the weather and the outside temperature!

With the WAGNER TempSpray H 126, H 226 and H 326 offers temperature controlled spraying for every coating application.
