This year's Lea Award for Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SME) for Social Responsibility in Baden-Württemberg, a federal state of Germany, has been presented. With this award, the Ministry of Economy, Labor and Tourism, Diakonie and Caritas honor companies for their voluntary social commitment. A total of 263 top-class applications were submitted, only five were nominated in their size category. J. Wagner, Markdorf, was among them: with its successful Christmas fundraising campaign for the TAFEL food banks, which had great problems providing enough food for the needy in their stores due to the high demand.

In order to help, the employees of J. Wagner donated cash and time credits at the end of the year and the management doubled the amount donated, so that 57,000 euros could be donated to the five Tafels in the Lake Constance region and another 2,600 euros to supra-regional Tafel projects.

At the Lea Awards ceremony in Stuttgart, the jury praised the concept as "innovative, sustainable and fair to employees.” On receiving the certificate Jaqueline Schiele, Chief People Officer Industrial Solutions, said: ”I am grateful and proud to have received this award on behalf of all employees!
This award represents our great team spirit as well as the commitment and dedication of all our colleagues towards our communities! Thanks to all of you for making this project a great success story.” This year, once again a fundraising campaign will be launched.

Works Council member Thomas Maier and Jaqueline Schiele, Chief People Officer Industrials Solutions, are pleased about the recognition at the Lea SME Award 2023.

The Lea SME Award is the competition with the largest number of participants in Germany that recognizes the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of small and medium-sized enterprises. Under the motto "Performance - Commitment - Recognition" (German capitals L-E-A), the non-endowed award aims to strengthen and promote companies in their social commitment.
