Emulsion coating with the airless roller: Instructions and tips!

In small flats, is the use of spray technology recommended if you are only applying a coat of Emulsion? Together with painter Ede, we show how the usual rolling but with an airless sprayer and the SprayRoller leads to even more speed on the construction site and capacity for new jobs. Painting interior walls with an ordinary roller is time-consuming and tedious, as the roller has to be dipped into the paint again and again. With the SprayRoller you save this step. Here, the Emulsion is applied directly to the wall with an airless gun and then rolled in one go with the roller. This saves a lot of time, especially on ceilings or heavily textured substrates, as two work steps can be completed in one.

To make the whole thing a bit clearer, we'll give you a step-by-step guide here to help you get the most out of your products with customers.

Emulsion coating with the SprayRoller: Instructions and tips!

Step 1: Thoroughly mask

As always, the work begins with covering areas that are not to be painted. Make sure that floors, windows and doors are properly masked. We always recommend masking tapes with integrated paper or film for better protection of surrounding surfaces.

Step 2: No need to cut in corners and edges

Next, cut in corners and edges as usual with a paint brush and a small roller. Our tip if you want it to go even faster: SpeedShield, a practical accessory that enables even faster cutting in of corners and edges.

Step 3: Safety at work

Always make sure to protect yourself adequately when working. Wear work gloves, a mask and suitable safety goggles. Tip: All common brands offer information on protective equipment and conditions of use for the respective emulsion paint in their material data sheets.

Step 4: Prepare the machine

Stir the emulsion paint, dilute if necessary and set up your airless unit. Then mount the accessories, your SprayRoller and a suitable extension on the machine and do a short spray test on some cardboard.

Step 5: Start the emulsion painting

Start painting. Make sure you work at a constant, swift speed and always keep the same distance from the wall to get an even result. The swivel joint integrated in the SprayRoller allows the spray head with nozzle and tip holder to be angled for this purpose.

Step 6: Removing the masking

When you have finished painting, the last step is to remove the masking materials. Make sure - as always - that the paint is not completely dry, but as a professional we don't need to tell you that.

Advantages of airless painting for emulsion coatings

For many painters, airless and painting sound like a contradiction in terms: Either spraying or painting. A SprayRoller combines the advantages of both worlds.

Fast and rational working as with the airless sprayer

Two work steps in one: Spraying and re-rolling in one operation

Direct material delivery to the wall: no annoying dipping into the paint

Very efficient on highly textured substrates where rolling is mandatory.

Reduction of spray mist due to direct re-rolling: even less masking required

What materials can the airless roller apply?

The Airless SprayRoller offers great advantages, especially for coating exteriors, since the surfaces, which are usually textured, always require rolling. We have therefore compiled a detailed guide for you on the subject of painting exteriors.
